Widgets and cupcakes and trailers.

1) Have you noticed my new little thingy in the corner? The one that says currently reading? Just drawing it to your attention. Enjoy.

2) I made Pottercakes! Our House Fair tomorrow is Harry Potter themed (apparently. I have very little to do with it this year) and I figured I'd dig in and lend a hand...they're not exactly gourmet but they were fun to make :P

Hedwigs and lightening bolts!

3) DOCTOR WHO TRAILER.
I have three words for you.

EE BAH GUM. That will be all.

IT'S ALL ENDING D:

So you know how it's my last year in school, right?
All of our end of year plans are starting to be put in place now: end-of-year assembly plans, yearbook profiles, hoodies, plans for end of year prank-type thing, EVERYTHING.

And today I was just watching this video. And now it's kind of hitting me that it's all coming to an end and it's so weird :(

Seriously though, watch the video. It's epic.

And to round off this slightly pointless post, here is a picture of me and my friends in Y7 hugging a tree. That will be all.

Friday 25 March 2011

I told you it was summer!

Look! All the flowers are out!

I'm told my dog has spent literally the whole day basking in the sunshine.
And you can't really see from the photo, but the catkins that come out every spring are here, so nice!
I kind of wanted to do something to match the summer mood...so I painted my nails :)

...Dusty says bye!

Thursday 24 March 2011

It's Thursday and I'm a very bad person :(

I wanted to post about how sunny it is! But when I get home, the sun has always gone down behind the trees which sucks. So here is a picture of the sun behind some trees with my abject apologies attatched.

Pathetic, isn't it? Anyway, the weather's been glorious which is a pretty successful turn of events, seeing as I swear a few weeks ago it was that bone-freezing, ear-numbing sharp nasty cold weather that makes you want to stay in bed and hibernate until July.

Anyway, now nice and sunny and I'm celebrating by A CHANGE. AKA THE CHOP. So...now I have lots less hair and it's kind of ginger...here are some GPOYs to demonstrate the length/colour:

The amusing thing is, my little sister cut it...basically she just went bonkers with the scissors and I was left with les resultats. Oh and I should really point out that the second picture isn't me posing, it's me getting pissed off with my sister pointing a camera in my face :)

OTHER THAN THAT, all I can really add is that my college life has just EXPLODED which is why I'm getting a little bit lazy with this blog. I'm sorry. It's not like I don't love blogging. I just get BUSY.

(Oh, and this blog is two and a half years old today! Cake all round!)

Saturday 19 March 2011

It's Friday and I'm filling in the blanks...

But it's Saturday and you're reading the blanks.

OOH, TIMEWARP. As usual, thanks be to Lauren!

1.   The best deal I've ever gotten is: oh...um, I don't know. I just realised this question is really hard. But suffice it to say that I LOVE CHEAP CLOTHES AND BOOKS OKAY YEAH.

2.  If I were hosting a dinner party and could invite people from my fantasy guest list it would include: Wait, how many? God is always my number one choice because imagine asking questions of God? (Can I invite non-existent people? How about people who may or may not exist?) I think I'd fill it with people from the past and from the now who have lived such rich, beautiful, inspiring lives...yep, that'll keep the conversation flowing. Like Irena Sendler and my homeboy Wilfred Owen and Wilm Hosenfeld and Irène Némirovsky maybe some non-war related people too...ooh, JFK and Bobby Kennedy! And Adele could sing us all into sweet sweet bliss. And Paolo Nutini too so he can finally wake up and realise I'm his future wife. Oh my god, and Emily Bronte!

And I'm ruling out fictional characters because that's a whole 'nother kettle of cod.

3.  Something that inspires me is: everything, the beautiful big wide world with its colours and its shapes and its forms and that fact that we're all made of stardust.

4.  If I could only choose to eat one flavor of food for the rest of eternity (sweet, salty, spicy, bitter....) I would have to go with: Salty. Of course. Mmmmmm, sweet, sweet salt.

I'd miss chocolate really badly though.

5.  I dream about: I have the WEIRDEST dreams. They're usually pretty long and epic. I love dreaming. A lot of my story ideas are rooted in dreams, although I have to be pretty ruthless and cut out the bizarre bits...like I have to replace "troll attack" with "train crash" or the storyworld would have TOO many focal points.
That kind of thing.
Yeah.

6.  My weekend will be spent:LONG WEEKEND. Working all day tomorrow (Saturday), then going out for a curry, then sleep over at my house with a cheap old bottles of wine :) and then a driving lesson and a rehearsal for Show Choir on Sunday...and I also have about 2k words of my History coursework to write and a History essay I should have written a week ago and a French mock oral to prepare for (it's on Thursday) and er...I think I might explode this weekend. Just a theory.

7.  If I could only  watch one movie or TV show for the rest of my life, it would be:    WHY WOULD ANYONE FORCE ANYONE TO MAKE THAT DECISION?

I'd choose a TV show not a film. Because TV shows are longer. Maybe Doctor Who because there are a SHEDLOAD of episodes if you include Classic Who. And because, y'know, I have a TARDIS t-shirt. It would be a waste to not be able to use it.

FOR THE FIRST TIME

So yesterday I saw The Script for the first time...I'd certainly never seen them before. And. It. Was. Incredible.
INCREDIBLE.
It started off okay: the warm-up act was Clare Maguire, who's a Solihull girl like me and who also has a serious set of lungs on her...she's a bit of an acquired taste but I actually really love her so that's cool.

She sang a bunch of songs...and then it was time for the moment we'd all been waiting for. THE SCRIPT YEAHHHHH.

It was all down to the crowd really. We were mega, mega, mega excited, and there were a lot of big fans in the audience. For me, there were two highlights. The first was The Man Who Can't Be Moved. We sang the whole first verse word-for-word, acapella, in time, 16,000 people in perfect unison. And at the end, Danny was so overwhelmed that he just sat down on the stage, took out his earpieces and just listened to us as we screamed and cheered and clapped for just ages. Such an epic moment.

There's a video below that may or may not be of that...I haven't watched it because I'm watching Comic Relief but hopefully it's what I think it is!

My second highlight was a little bit more personal: the song For The First Time. I'm going to be honest, guys, I got a leeeeeetle bit of a tear at this one, because of these lines:

Drinking old cheap bottles of wine,
Sit talking up all night,
Doing things we haven't for a while,
We're smiling though we're close to tears,
Even after all these years,

And it goes on to do the rest but that's irrelevant, because it's that bit that gets me. Because it reminds me of my lovely friends and all the cheap wine we drink, and how sometimes we cry when we're drunk, and after all these years, we're still BFFLS BOI YEA.

(This is awkward because they read this blog now.)

Anyway, it was an epic epic concert. And I screamed myself hoarse. And it was really good. I mean really, The Script on St Patrick's Day. Could there be anything better?

I'm going to end with the words of Mark the bald guitarist (who apparently is all mine seeing as Danny does nothing for me):

"This is our third gig on this tour, and I honestly think nothing is going to top this."

(I've paraphrased. But ya know.)

Ladies and gentleman, this has been a post. GOODNIGHT.

Monday 14 March 2011

On why I may or may not seem like a complete emo sometimes.

Tingaling.

Basically, I just realised that a lot of my output: not just here, but in my diary and when I talk to people from deep down *whacks heart like Tarzan*
Well...I sound really miserable and weird. And I'm not! I mean, I'm not Miss Cheerful of Cheerful Town, and I tell things exactly as they are: if it's sad, then it's sad. If it's not, then it's not.

Here's Tarzan to lighten the mood.
I don't know where I'm going with this.

Okay, I'm not a cheerful person. But I'm not 100% miserable and I'm not depressed or anything.

That's all :)

Saturday 12 March 2011

Let's talk abouuuuuut Lent!

Hello, it's been a while, I'm sorry!

Not that sorry though.

Anyway, Lent! Lent-y Lent-y Lent.
I'm not Christian or anything, but I like to give stuff up for Lent just to prove I can, and that I'm not dependant on anything.
And also because being the martyr is fun.

So I've given up chocolate (relatively easy) the vending machine (medium difficulty) and coke (LITERALLY THE HARDEST THING EVER.)
Seriously, though, I am a Diet Coke fiend, and I really, really miss it.

But it's teaching me lots of things about self-restraint and how I don't need coke to be happy so it's all good :)

This is a short post, because it's nearly one in the morning, but I have another one lined up in my mind...

Anyway, what are you giving up for Lent this year? Have you given up yet?

Oh, and P.S., my thoughts are with those people affected by the Japanese earthquake right now. Plus those caught up in the Libyan Civil War, and everyone in the world who isn't as fortunate as I am to live in a stable, safe home with my high-speed wifi and endless amounts of breadsticks. Seriously, though. Such a tragedy. So shocking.

Friday 4 March 2011

F is for Fridays with Friends.

Hi guys, happy Friday!

I don't really get Friday night feeling any more, now that I work on Saturdays, but I've had such a lovely evening that it doesn't matter...I know it's a symbol of corporate greed and American domination, but boy do I love sitting in Starbucks until closing. And I don't drink coffee.

My cafe-bar-jazz show-book club will be way better, anyway :)
D'ailleurs, it's Friday and that means blanks!
Well not every Friday. Yaknow. Read on, good sir! And many thanks to Lauren over at Little Things!

1. The phrase or punctuation I overuse most is: "Not gonna lie but-"

2. Today I am thankful for: friends! *ladidah sounds like a gay.* Also the smell of omelettes.

Oh, there's no question three, that's clearly not important.

4. A quirky thing about me is: quirky? Um...I guess I have lots of little quirks, cous cous addiction? Oh, I don't know.

5. This weekend I am going to: Spend my day working, then go out for a curry with my famo, then for a carvery with my friends, yeahh :)

6. Something that worries me is: agh, everything! At the moment, not being able to keep up with school I guess...I have got an INCREDIBLE amount of stuff to do at the mo, it's unbelievable. And yet here I am, blogging. Sigh.

7. On my night stand you would find: Many things. *runs upstairs to check* Two empty cans of coke, an empty glass of squash, 4 bottles of nail varnish, pens of various types, stack of books a mile high, diary, lamp that doesn't work, a couple of trolls and...I think that's about it? Oh, and a bag of revels I will never ever eat.

Revels are gross, see you soon, bye!

Tuesday 1 March 2011

Okay here are some NY things...

Okay, so...here are a bunch of photos from my little trip :P Good luck scrolling through, there are quite a few :/

I literally lived off this all week. Yeahhh :)

This was our tour guide Cathy. This photo pretty much sums her up :')

Mmmm, tasty Chinese for lunch. I really love foodcourts; we don't really get them over here.

The Vietnam War Memorial

Vietnam again.
Exciting story: this police line is outside our hotel in DC. Turns out there was a man with an ice pick, a massive police stand-off and eventually they shot the guy dead. Meanwhile, 50 English students are sat in a coach singing Empire State of Mind, on repeat, for an HOUR.

We had a quick stop-off in Philadelphia to do Reading Market, Senate House and the Liberty Bell. Which was smaller than I'd expected.

Cue absolute spaz-out and LOTS OF PHOTOS.

Every morning, I had this for breakfast. I used to break up the 'nana, whack it on the waffle and pour some syrup on top. Mm-mm, I miss NYC breakfasts :(

I can't remember where this was taken, but nice photo huh?

It snowed! In New York! Second spaz.

Just chillaxing with Lady Lib.

Taken from the ferry. It was srsly foggy so only B&W really made any decent photos...

Again, from the ferry.

Chilli cheese fries. I was expecting a tiny side with like, chilli flakes on top and I got this. Best $5 ever.

I saw this guy on three seperate occasions, nay, DAYS. It's clearly fate. Plus he's French. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

HECK YEAH VIEW FROM THE EMPIRE STATE. More spazalazzing.

We went to Central Park...again, pretty epic.

St Paul's Cathedral opposite Ground Zero. Really, really sad :(

TAKES ME DOWN FROM HARLEM TO THE BROOKLYN BRIIIIIIIDGE/You walkin' wavy Catherine?

Central Park again, love love love.
Empire State in odd perspective, I like this though.

Hello, my name's George.

Mount Vernon. It was my friend's birthday and she got to raise the flag, how cool is that?
Oh, and here's me in the hotel room in NY :)
ANYWAY GUYS THAT'S MY PHOTODUMP FOR NOW, I HAVE MORE TO POST LATER BUT THEY CAN WAIT, HOPE YOU ENJOYED, BAI X
